Tiffany Lamp

February 4th, 2009 by Anna

I wanted to make a Valentine graphic so off I went to look at tutorials for inspiration. I found Rosie Hardman’s tutorial on how to make  a tiffany lamp with a stained glass shade. I was inspired! After all, what says, “I love you” better than a tiffany lamp?

I decided to modify it as Rosie’s lamp features a dragonfly and mine had to have butterflies. I spent three days off and on, trying to find the right butterflies and figuring out how to modify the tutorial. I finally got the shade somewhat to my liking. Four days later and I hit a brick wall. I have a new computer so don’t have Photo Impact installed because I wanted to see how PI X3 was and I can’t make the base of my lamp because I don’t have a complete version installed yet. Waaaaah!

So here’s what I have so far until I buy PI X3.

Feeding My Pets

January 24th, 2009 by Anna

I took my two baby pet bunnies to the vet.  I noticed that Bucky loved Ebbie a bit too much.  Vet gave the bunnies an exam and recommended that I wait another month to neuter them and in the meantime separate the two little lovers.  This is going to be a long month for them as they enjoyed each other’s companionship very much.

During the exam, the vet advised that I was feeding them too much pellets and they should have more fresh green leafy vegetables.  She explained that she asked her clients when did they see rabbits in the wild eating pellets?  She’s right, when do we see rabbits or any animal eating any kind of prepared feed in the wild?

When was the last time you’ve either observed or saw a special on wolves or coyotes eating a bag of Purina, Science Diet, or any kind of prepared food?  We see them eating deer, antelope, rabbits, including any number of prey animals.  I wonder how many die from eating their raw bones?

I’ve been feeding my dogs and now my cat, a raw diet.  I feed beef, chicken, turkey, cornish hen, smelts, and pork. I’ve observed cleaner teeth, better skin and coat condition.  I thought this would be hard and complicated.  It’s very easy.  It’s a bit pricey but way cheaper than dentals at the vet.  If you’d like good information about the proper way to feed your dog, try B-naturals.

Lucky Cat, is now over a year old and he doesn’t throw up hair balls, his litter box does not reek, his coat is not excessively oily but is very shiny, and has no dandruff. I rarely see him drinking water though he likes to play with it. He doesn’t need to drink much water because it’s there in his food.

I also don’t feed my birds pellets. I feed them seeds, lots of fresh vegetables and sprouted seeds.

Feeding our pets shouldn’t be complicated. We are smart enough to feed our children, we are smart enough to feed our pets.

December Dog Shows

January 2nd, 2009 by Anna

2008 is gone and hopefully 2009 will be better for everyone.  Last month was very hectic for me as it probably was for most of you.  I did manage 3 dog shows.  Little Mora has been a reserve queen for the last several shows.  For those of you who don’t know what reserve is, it’s just another way of saying runner-up.  I am sure Mora’s day is coming.

I do have something exciting to share.  My friend, Lauren, has a special puppy that I’ve been admiring ever since she got him from her friend, Joanne Ybaben of Brevette Papillons.  Lauren had entered Dash at the shows near me.  She e-mailed to say that she was not feeling well and was probably not going to make it up to the shows.  I offered to show Dash for her.  The second day I showed him, he was Winner’s Dog for two points, and then Best Puppy.  Winner’s Bitch and Best of Winners was Mike, Donna and Gia’s, pretty bitch, Dahlia. I stayed for the puppy group and he won!  I felt like we had won the toy group!  He showed like a dream.  Here are some pictures of Dash, aka, Brevette Kid Incredible.  Congratulations to Lauren and Joanne!  I had a lot of fun and so did Dash!

Box For The Bunny

November 19th, 2008 by Anna

I have a new bunny.  She doesn’t have a name though I am leaning towards “Nutmeg”.  I took a box and cut holes in it, I’ve read that bunnies like boxes to play and hide in.  Lucky immediately took it over and he thinks the box is for him.  I don’t think the bunny cares at this point.

Papillon puppy says,

It’s our right and obligation.  Do it!  Soon it will be over.  Well, hopefully, remember Florida?  At least I’ll stop getting calls from Hillary and Bill and the flyers will stop.  LOL!!!

Christmas Penguin

November 2nd, 2008 by Anna

Are you suffering from electionitis?  I know I am.  I’ve been spending my spare time making patriotic themes.  I’m done.   Two more days to go!  It will soon be over.  Whoever wins will win and we can go back to regular political sniping and haranguing.

Now, it’s that time of year again!  Time to make Holiday graphics and design cards.  Here’s a little something that I made up.  I hope you enjoy my little penquin and his best friend.  I am having a little difficulty getting over the red, white, and blue theme but give me time.  I am sure that I’ll get more holidayish as time wears on!

Penguin and Snowman wish you a Merry Christmas!

Indigo, The Pionus Menstruss

October 21st, 2008 by Anna

Or, Indigo, the Blue-headed Pionus Parrot.  According to, “The blue-headed Pionus has a friendly disposition, performs aerobic antics, and has an almost iridescent quality to its feathers.”  Indigo, aka Diggy, does indeed have an iridescent quality to her feathers.  She is quite friendly too.  Yes, she loves me and my husband.  She hates everyone else.  Well, she tolerates my daughters when I am not around or if they are eating something that she likes.

I’ve not seen the aerobic antics unless you count hanging upside down on my cockatiel’s cage so she can shred the wood trim off my wall.  She does fly very well.  She swoops around the house and is quite agile and aerobic.   She can land on my head with the greatest of ease.  Back to the friendly part……..when someone other than my husband enters the room, she flies away and hides somewhere.  She stays motionless and silent.  My job is to shoo away the intruders and then go find her.  Once found, she happily coos and chortles.  You’d think she would call out and help me find her.  Nope.  She just waits.

Indigo does have the iridescent quality to her feathers.  She’s breathtaking.  The pictures only give you an idea of how pretty she is.  You can’t really know unless you see her or another blue-head in person.  Of course, you will never see Indigo in person because she will immediately hide when you walk into my house.  I made a stained glass graphic featuring Indigo.  I designed it from a picture of her as a juvenile.  I think it captures her expression quite nicely.  Until having a parrot, I didn’t know that they had expressions.  Parrots most certainly do and I can assess Indigo’s moods fairly accurately from her expression and her body language.  This is her “cupcake” pose. Indigo in stained glass

I have read that Pionus Parrots are cuddly and snuggly.  This is true in Indigo’s case.  She is cuddly when she wants to be.   Pionus can talk, but Indigo prefers to talk in Pionus.  She mutters her sweet nothings and curses in a language that I can’t decipher but I know what she means.  She loves to shower.  When I am at the sink and run the water, she hops onto my shoulder, runs down my arm and plays in the water.  My least favorite part is after she is drenched, she shakes the water from her feathers which lands all over the kitchen and me.   Indigo always gives me an excuse to clean the kitchen.
